How to download, Install & Use GRABOID?
Graboid Review:
Graboid Video grabs video online from a variety of intermediary sites, including high-quality and HD videos. It doesn't host or share video; instead, it searches for the titles you want to watch and shows you what's available, both exact and near matches. You can preview or play the videos (using the included VLC Media Player) or flag them for later. You can filter searches and sort videos by category, too, and add tags that other users can see. Graboid Video is shareware that's free to try, including a free account, though the trial limits downloads to 2GB and no HD content.
Graboid Video's installer includes VLC Media Player, though if (like us) you already have it, you can skip that step. Graboid's user interface is about par for the course in appearance, with a prominent search box and tabbed features: Videos, Downloads, Flagged, News, Account, Help, Messages, and Preferences -- all clear and to the point. The program opened with the latest downloads displayed, including some popular movies. Graboid doesn't display the sites it searches. Plenty of free videos are available from sites like the Moving Image Archive, but some sites host videos shared by unauthorized users. We're certainly not interested in downloading copyrighted material, and the trial limits what's available, so we entered a search for an old, dark movie. After previewing the content, we clicked Download. Graboid downloaded and saved our video, indicating "you have this" with a green icon when it finished. We had no trouble figuring out Graboid, but a good help file is available, too.
We opened the default destination folder and clicked our finished download, which played normally in VLC. That clearly demonstrated Graboid's capabilities, and we have no problem in recommending the program based on its performance, even with the trial limitations. But we recommend using Graboid Video with care since it not only downloads potentially copyrighted material by also adult content (as indicated on the sidebar menu). Graboid's not responsible for what others host or what you download since it's mostly a download manager, just one optimized for finding online video downloads.
Editors' note: This is a review of the trial version of Graboid Video 3.26.

Great site but you need to know how it workes...read on
I've been a member for around 10 years, spending quite a few as a moderator on the site until work pressures meant not having the time to continue.
Graboid is NOT a P2P site. It acts like a search engine and you download direct from the server, not other users' pcs. Therefore, what Graboid does is legal. What you choose to do...well, I'll say no more. Most content is uploaded by newsgroups and therefore, quality of content is variable but by and large good. Graboid itself DOES NOT host the content and therefore has no control over quality, other than the ability of users to give a file a thumbs up/down. You can then choose whether to d/l the file or not.
I'm in the UK and pay $19.99/mth (about £12) for unlimited d/l bandwidth which I see as excellent value, especially as I get to see many TV shows the day after they're aired in the US.
Be aware that DMCA (Digital Millenium Copyright Act) take down orders are becoming much more commonplace, meaning files are often only available for a very short period of time before they are removed. The link remains however, and this means Graboid can still find the file, even though it's "broken", meaning bandwidth can be used up on a duff file d/l. Graboid has NO control over this. Liken it to a Google search that brings up results which, when you click on the link, inform you that the webpage is no longer available.
So, there are some shortcomings but they're not of Graboid's making. There are many, many more files which d/l incredibly fast and are of superb quality. Well worth the subscription I pay, in my view.
As I'm not d/l files from other peoples computers, there's nearly no risk of a virus (never had one in 10 years). Also, tracking my IP address is unlikely as I'm not u/l any files to anybody else.
Finally, why the name Graboid? Not sure why, unless it's because the guys who "made" Graboid were fans of the movie Tremors but a Graboid is the underground "worm" monster in the movie. Now you know :-)
